Mission

The mission of Affable Technology Services (ATS) is to add value to clients operating within the Australian retail industry by enhancing their use of technology.  We  link technology primarily to achieve business objectives.

We provide independent advice and services.  We will not accept any assignment or reward from a vendor to conflict with the best possible interests of a retailer client. 

We follow the highest standards of business ethics, and always place our client's interests above our own.

Our goal is to have an appreciative and friendly group of clients who have access to straightforward and practical advice that maximises the return on investment in technology, and minimises the risk of project failure in delivering expectations.

Julian Josem, Principal Consultant

Julian Josem has been advising retailers in the use of technology for 30 years.  During that time, he has worked with some 200 retailers - small, medium, and large retailers are clients of ATS.  

Julian's specialty is helping retailer user departments understand how to improve productivity with the available technology.  He understands that the hardest part of implementing technology projects is getting users to take ownership - he leads people into the realm of productive systems use.  He concentrates on business processes and business key performance indicators to motivate staff through the change management process.

Julian understands retailing - he teaches Retail Management Principles at Monash University, and is developing industry policy to assist retailers implement systems.

Julian also lectures at Monash University on Retail Technology which is part of the Bachelor of Business (Retail Management) degree.  He is recognised as someone who knows and understands technology as it is applied to retail. 

He is chair of the Australian Retailers Association EPOS sub-committee, and chairs the  National Retail Forum (2004, 2005, 2006).

He knows a lot about what vendors and retailers are doing in most areas of technology that applies to retail.
